Diagnostic imaging
• Digital radiography provides high quality images which can be magnified and enhanced allowing the most subtle changes to be appreciated. If required, images can be e-mailed to specialists for further opinion.
Ultrasound scanning
• 7 different scanning machines
• Reproductive scanning is used to assess stages of the reproductive cycle and time insemination with ovulation.Pregnancy diagnosis and treatment of twinning.
• Tendon scanning for damage to the flexor tendons, one of the commonest injuries of performance horses.
• Internal organ scanning. Heart, liver, kidney and lungs are frequently scanned to provide valuable diagnostic information.
• Ultrasound guided biopsy of liver and other structures.
Fibre-optic endoscopy
• Respiratory system can be viewed by fine fibre-optic equipment allowing diagnosis of a wide range of respiratory conditions.
• Bladder endoscopic examination allows visual assessment of the inside of the bladder.
• Gastroscopy images the stomach by means of a long fibre-optic scope.
• MRI scanning and scintigraphy investigations are referred to Liphook Equine Hospital or Bristol University Veterinary School when indicated.
