Equine stud medicine
In the early 1990’s Charter’s David Buckley was a prime mover in the establishment of the Equine Code of Practice for Artificial Insemination, and sat on the committee to write the original code. This forms the basis of all procedures we now carry out.
We are experienced in the use of fresh, chilled or frozen semen, and will work on a contract fee basis focussing on expectation of a foal. Using modern digital ultrasound scanning, our aim is to maximise the chance of pregnancy by insemination at the optimum time.
To make life easy, we have frozen semen storage at Mullacott Equine Hospital so that semen can be accepted well in advance of the mare’s ovulation. Using both deep insemination techniques and endoscopic insemination we offer a complete insemination service.
We accept referrals of mares and foals for medical and surgical conditions.![]()
Our fully qualified nurses help us to attend to any health problems and deliver any treatments for the duration of your horse’s stay.
Stocks are provided for the safety of animal and staff and we also offer post and rail paddocks for exercise.
