A horse with a tooth problem can suffer the same discomfort and pain as it's rider. To enable us to look after your horse's dental requirements, our vets are equipped with all that is needed for their routine care. Specialist equipment such as X-Ray facilities or motorised rasps are available at the Hospital should they be needed.
The benefit of using your Veterinary Surgeon to look after your horse's dental needs is that they understand how the teeth play a part in the general health and well being of a horse and can take this into account when giving advice or treatment. A Veterinary Surgeon can also prescribe sedatives or pain relief if necessary.
We have produced a handout explaining most of the common dental problems that your horse is likely to suffer from. This will help you to recognise and understand the importance of these conditions. When we visit your horse to carry out a dental examination or treatment, we will offer you a dental chart detailing what we have found, what has been done and what to expect on the next visit. Our Dental Reminder System will notify you when your horse's next routine care session is due.
