Spotlight on staff – Gina Corti

Registered Veterinary Nurse Gina explains a little more about her chosen career path, plus her collection of pets!
Where are you based and how long have you worked for Charter?
I’m based at Charter Veterinary Hospital in Roundswell and have been here for six years.
What made you decide to go into a veterinary nursing career?
I originally wanted to be a police woman but after training at college I decided I fancied a different career and have always enjoyed animals and am so glad I changed my mind!
What’s the best thing about your job? And the worst?
I love the variety in our job, especially enjoy surgical nursing. I love all aspects of my job!
Which training route did you take?
I studied an apprenticeship at Bicton College, which is a combination of working in practice, and classroom days at college.
Do you have animals yourself? What are they?
Yes I have three dogs – Basil the Beagle, and Fenton and Mason the Staffordshire Bull Terriers. I also have a Maine Coon cat and Oreo, who is my nine-year-old horse, pictured.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I’m normally found travelling the country showing my youngest dog Fenton. If not, i’ll be riding around the countryside.
What’s your favourite place to go in North Devon?
I love the beach, especially Crow Point.
